An energy audit is a home inspection for inefficiencies. These home energy inefficiencies are located by using a blower door and and an infrared gun to locate energy leaks we cannot see with the naked eye. The test reveals two things, where the leaks are, and what is the air tightness of the home. An energy audit should be a precursor to any weatherization work.
An energy audit captures the initial baseline, or the home’s air tightness before any work is done. After each air sealing and insulation project is completed, another test is performed to check the effectiveness of the work; this is called a test-out. Therefore, we not only air seal and insulate your home, we prove how effective our installations are with each project.
